Program Vision

The Pierce College Dental Hygiene Program prepares learners for the privilege and responsibility to practice in the profession of Dental Hygiene. This preparation focuses on essential competencies for the successful practice of the profession, inspires life-long learning, and promotes service to the community.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Pierce College Dental Hygiene program will:   

  1. Demonstrate the ethics, values, skills, and knowledge essential to the dental hygiene profession. [Oral Health Education]   
  2. Apply principles of health promotion and disease prevention. [Health Promotion, Preventative Counseling]
  3. Implement the Dental Hygiene Process of Care in the delivery of individualized, equity–conscious, patient care. [Patient Management, Clinical Dental Hygiene]   
  4. Exhibit altruism, accountability, professional responsibility, integrity, equity, and respect for members of the diverse communities served. [Community Dental/Oral Health]
