Program Outcomes

  • Professionalism – Model professionalism in the construction industry through ethics and advocacy; team building; leadership; mentorship especially around supporting historically marginalized employees in the industry.
  • Safety and Accident Prevention – Evaluate the importance of jobsite safety and research strategies that can be used to build a culture of safety.
  • Communication – Compose, implement, and assess the efficacy of communications tools used in the construction industry to disseminate technical and professional business information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Analysis and Problem Solving – Analyze projects through the application of mathematics, logic, and technology to solve problems in construction documents; materials and methods; estimating; budgets; and scheduling.
  • Planning and Organization – Research, implement, and evaluate construction processes using project planning methods and tools.
  • Sustainability – Assess concepts related to running sustainable projects in order to build sustainable business processes.

    1. Hardware and software for scheduling, estimating and costing
    2. Cost projections
    3. Cash Flow projections
    4. Internet –information highway

  4. Analysis and Problem Solving - Graduates will understand how to use mathematics, logic and technology to help effectively and efficiently analysis projects and solve problems in the following areas:
    1. Construction Documents
    2. Materials and Methods
    3. Estimating and budgets
    4. Scheduling
  5. Planning and Organization – Graduates will understand how to implement construction processes using effective and efficient project planning methods and tools.  They will be able to identify activities and coordinate resources and create goals and objectives to complete individual tasks.
  6. Sustainability – Graduates will understand concepts related to running sustainable projects and businesses. 

Certificate in Construction Management

Program Outcomes

  • Communication will meet standards of business writing and contain standard industry language.
  • Explanations will include, but not be limited to (1) all elements of a construction project divisions 1-16 (CSI Protocol); (2) the interdependence or the organizational triad among construction owner, client and consultant; (3) relationships between assembly of materials and systems; and (4) prioritization and allocation of resources that meets a strict time line.
  • Orally explain project details originating from a blue print or specifications.
  • Using computerized industry software, produce a schedule that conforms to time limits based on "critical path planning."
  • Produce a completed estimate that accurately measures and calculates material quantities.
  • Demonstrate the unique contributions, mission, and values of your business and your unique skills and abilities (branding).

Certificate in Construction Management Safety

Program Outcomes

  • Ability to think critically about historical and current political and social trends surrounding the profession of occupational safety and health.
  • Awareness of diversity issues that affect historical and current trends as well as their affect on the communication and training process of diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing, presentation, training and through daily interaction with others.
  • Comprehension of and commitment to best practices in sustainability and global consciousness.
  • Ability to utilize basic computation skills necessary to support the above basic skill set.
