The Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad offers trips that are usually 4 weeks to a full quarter.

Alajuela, Costa Rica — Pre-Fall 2021
Spend four weeks studying Spanish in Alajuela, Costa Rica prior to the start of fall quarter. Immerse yourself in language and culture while surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty and the warm, welcoming people of Costa Rica. You will live with a host family and earn 5 credits of Spanish Language credits at Pierce College. This is a yearly trip.
Loved and respected for its architecture, theatres, museums, galleries and academic institutions, London has something for everyone. Along with earning a full quarter of transferable college credits, students live with British families and immerse themselves in day-to-day British life. Frequent field trips and travel opportunities enable students to experience the culture and history of this great city as well as the beautiful countryside of England. The teaching team tailors courses to the European environment and structures the coursework around several themes common to the locale.
Melbourne is situated in southeastern Australia. It is one of the great livable cities of the world, noted for its diversity, vitality, and sophistication, a center for arts and culture with ready access to the wonders of Australia's natural history. In Auckland, New Zealand you will experience Maori culture, New Zealand's natural attractions and culture. Auckland is perhaps the most vibrant and bustling multicultural city in the world with its urban environment, beautiful beaches, hiking trails and glistening harbors. This is a yearly trip.
Berlin is one of the most vibrant and exciting European capitals. The East and West sides of the city have retained their own identity since reunification and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Thanks to the rebuilding process, Berlin has become a focus for modern architecture and remains a major center of art and intentional business. The city, with its many famous parks and lakes, becomes especially full of life in the spring and summer when the locals are out on foot, bicycle and skates. Students will take three classes for a total of 15 credits including a German Life and Culture class taught by local faculty.
Shanghai, China — Summer 2022
Spend three weeks studying Chinese Language and Culture in China for 5 credits. You will be based out of Shanghai, with excursions to Shaoxing and Hangzhou. Cultural activities include visits to the Temple of Souls Retreat, Jewish Refugees Museum, Chinese Science and Technology Museum, and participation in a tea ceremony with a tea master.
Barcelona, Spain — Fall 2022
Spend the fall quarter in Barcelona, studying Spanish and Spanish culture. Barcelona is the capital and most populous city of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. Barcelona is today an important cultural center and a major tourist destination and has a rich cultural heritage.
Lyon, France — Spring 2022
Spend spring quarter in Southeastern France. Lyon’s culture and history are reflected in its architecture, with influences from the Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern periods. Students study French language and culture while truly immersed in the city.
