Pierce College is proud to announce a new and innovative conference for educators committed to equity and social justice in the educational system. The Teaching Equity Conference is happening Dec. 14 at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom. Join us in developing and supporting P-12 teachers who are actively engaging in educational transformation in local schools and early learning programs.

General registration is $75, and student registration is $15. Registration includes breakfast and lunch.

Agenda highlights for the day include a keynote speech from Dr. Sharon Knight, focused on wellness and equity. Dr. Knight is a skilled multicultural educator, servant leader and unwavering race and social justice activist. She will deliver a keynote address called “Wellness and Equity: A Self-Care Plan for Educators Who Serve/Teach Through an Equitable Lens.”

Highlights of the day also include a cultural dance performance, NAACP Youth Panel discussion, and a variety of breakout sessions.

“This conference is a wonderful local opportunity for teachers and administrators to come together to reflect on how their identities impact their work with children and families and to work together to identify and close equity gaps across Pierce County,” said Pierce College’s Director of Education Programs Krissy Kim.
