What is Digital Design?
High-level graphic designers and rich media artists who can use computer skills to create imaginative designs are in high demand. Expertise in graphic design is important for entry into and advancement in publishing companies, in-house design departments, graphics, advertising, public relations, sales and other visual arts occupations. Rich media artists are in demand as the internet continues to gain acceptance as a primary channel of communication. Persons skilled in UX/UI and designing for the Web can expect to be in increasing demand and earn good salaries.
Transfer
Students who earn their new media and digital design degree from Pierce College can transfer directly to The Evergreen State College through the Upside Down Degree program. Students wishing to transfer to another four-year program are advised to work closely with their academic advisor to map out additional requirements for an Associate of Arts degree.

If you have ever wondered how those images were created and have ever thought about designing them as a career, then the New Media and Digital Design program might be the right choice for you.
The New Media and Digital Design program at Pierce College is a two-year, broad-based program that can be completed entirely online. The program requires courses in two main areas:
Traditional Graphic Design
This explores computer and traditional illustration, digital photography and image manipulation, print-based page layout, and web design.
Rich Media Production
This part of the degree incorporates 3D modeling, 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, video production, and rich media authoring.
Graduates can expect to be readily capable of competing for jobs in the graphic arts industry, or they can choose to pursue an advanced degree at a four-year institution See the Transfer Page for more information.
The New Media and Digital Design program is enhanced by a state-of-the-art lab offering full graphic design and multimedia capabilities for hands-on experience. You will study with instructors who have both academic expertise and practical experience in their field, bringing a genuine working knowledge to their teaching.
Students generally complete their associate degree in about two years.
