Advising Appointments

To best serve our students' academic advising needs, we offer four types (Current, New Student, Prospective Student, Drop-In) of advising appointments through our advising centers at Fort Steilacoom (FS), Joint Base Lewis – McChord (JBLM), and Puyallup (PY).  Click each drop down to learn more about each appointment type and choose the appointment that is right for you.

Current Student Appointments

During your appointment you can expect us to discuss the following with you:

  • Check in on your progress, celebrate your wins, and address any challenges you might be facing
  • Offer resources that might support your student success and transfer/career readiness
  • Review and revise your Starfish Degree Planner
  • Complete forms, documents, and other activities that help resolve an issue and prepare for graduation

As a current student, you can schedule a 30-minute advising appointment in two ways: through your Starfish account or by contacting your preferred advising center.

New Student Advising Appointments

As a newly admitted student, we offer a 45-minute initial advising appointment to discuss your college and career goals and ensure your successful start.

Prospective student appointments are for you to discuss career pathways and program requirements, transfer credits, and to provide guidance on the steps to getting started at Pierce College.

Virtual Drop-Ins

Virtual Drop-In appointments are 10 to 15-minute sessions that we offer to you daily through our Zoom Virtual Welcome Desk. Our goal is to be available for those just-in-time supports that keep you moving toward your current and future goals.
