Julie holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from the University of Rochester, a Master in Counseling from Xavier University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education in English Literature from Miami University.  She has served at a variety of institutions, including community colleges, liberal arts colleges, and research universities with roles in teaching, student services, academic administration, research administration, health education, and women's services.  A first-generation student from a rural community, she is passionate about the role of community colleges in creating healthy, equitable, and thriving communities.  She is currently a Presidents Fellow with the Aspen Institute's College Excellence Program. She joined Pierce College in 2019 as President of Fort Steilacoom. She became Chancellor in January of 2023.

Matt holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Temple University, a Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Delaware. With more than 30 years in higher education, Matt is firmly committed to education's role in advancing racial and social justice, with a keen focus on community colleges and intentional, open engagement with data in order to achieve equitable access, opportunity, and success. Matt also completed the Aspen Institute's Presidential Fellowship for Community College Excellence, delivered in collaboration with the Stanford Educational Leadership Initiative. Prior to his current role, Matt served as the interim president of Pierce College Puyallup, where he also served as the vice president of learning & student success for nine years.
