2024 Summer Camps - Registration Now Open!

Junior Space Camps

For campers entering grades 1-5

One day Junior Space Camps include numerous hands-on activities both indoor and outdoor  including some special time in the Pierce College Science Dome.

Each day has one of three themes:

  • Space Exploration
  • Solar System
  • Stars and Nebulae

Come once for your favorite theme or three times to experience them all!  Activities designed to engage learning through observation, reasoning, and hands-on experience.

2024 Dates and Hours

July 9, 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25

9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost

$65 per child, per day. Snacks are provided, but please pack a lunch and bring a water bottle. Limited scholarships are available.  To apply for a scholarship or nominate a child for a scholarship please fill out the Junior Space Camp scholarship application.

Space Camps

For campers entering grades 6-9

One-day Space Camps include numerous hands-on activities, both indoor and outdoor, including some special time in the Pierce College Science Dome. Each day will focus on one of the topics below:

  • Engineering
  • Rockets
  • Space Exploration
  • Life in the Universe

Learn how to navigate the nighttime sky, discover the mysteries of the Solar System, plan a space mission, see the beauty in the life and death of stars and find your place among the galaxies of the universe!

2024 Dates and Hours

July 30, August 1, 6 and 8

11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Participants can be dropped off any time between 11 and 11:30 a.m., and picked up any time between 4:30 and 5 p.m., with supervised care at those times.

Cost

$45 per child, per day. Snacks are provided, but please pack a lunch and bring a water bottle. Limited scholarships are available.  To apply for a scholarship or nominate a child for a scholarship please fill out the Space Camp scholarship application.

High Altitude Balloon (HAB) Camp

For campers entering grades 10-12

The Science Dome is excited to host a brand-new space camp designed for older students! High Altitude Balloon (HAB) Camp is a project-based camp in which students will have seven days to construct, test, launch, and analyze data from their very own HAB. This camp includes a one-day trip to Central Washington University, where students will launch and retrieve the HAB. This is a great opportunity to learn useful skills and see your project reach the edge of space!

2024 Dates and Hours

August 5-8 and 12-14

Launch day is tentatively schedule for August 12 or 13, depending on weather

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Launch day: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Cost

Free! HAB Camp is supported by the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium, the Pierce College Science Dome, and Pierce College Student Achievement Support Services (SASS). Lunches are included, but please bring a water bottle.

HAB Camp requires an application and selection is competitive. Applications are due June 7. Ten students will be chosen and notified of acceptance by June 21.
