After a nearly 16-year career in manufacturing, Buddy Molina was tired of working a job he wasn’t exactly passionate about. Although his job allowed he and his wife to build a good life together, he always dreamed of pursuing a career that was more personally fulfilling. When the couple moved from Colorado to Puyallup two years ago, he saw his opportunity to start over and begin working toward his dream career as an educator.
“I was so tired of going to work at a job that meant nothing to me,” Molina said. “I was ready to build a career that made me happy and challenged me. It’s so refreshing to be able to say that I’m working toward a career that is meaningful to me.”
Molina, 33, currently serves as President of the Associated Students of Pierce College Puyallup. Together with the rest of Puyallup’s student leaders, Molina hopes to expand opportunities for all students to get involved in the clubs, activities and services available on campus. “My overall goal is to make sure our team continues to move forward in a way that helps engage and encourage more students to get involved in school,” he said. “More than anything, I want to do what I can to help other students succeed.”
Molina’s plan is to transfer to University of Washington Tacoma to finish his bachelor’s degree. His ultimate goal is to continue his education to earn a doctorate before becoming a college professor.
“I’m looking forward to making a positive impact on the next generation of students,” Molina said.
